MARG Group India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Limkokwing University that will see the Malaysian university’s industry-driven programmes offered at MARG Swarnobhoomi’s world-class educational facilities.
MARG Group is one of India’s fastest growing infrastructure organisations, armed with a project portfolio worth more than Rs. 3000 crores (USD$570million).
Key to its education portfolio is MARG Swarnobhoomi, a satellite city that it calls “the campus of education, research, innovation, industry and living”.
MARG Swarnobhoomi – City of the future
MARG Swarnobhoomi is a 1,000-acre development that holds world-class IT and engineering industries, as well as social infrastructure such as residential communities, hospitals, shopping malls and a golf course.
Education is a fundamental building block of this next generation city. There are infrastructure and partnerships in place to cater to all levels of education, from elementary right up to higher education. This ensures MARG Swarnabhoomi’s industries have direct access to a high-quality human resource pool to drive their global development.
Bringing 21st century education to India
MARG Group’s new partnership with Limkokwing University stems from the former’s ambitious plans to introduce digital, skills-driven programmes to India’s typically conventional education ecosystem.
During the signing ceremony, Advisor Strategy-Education for MARG Group’s Research & Innovation Initiatives, Dr. M. K. Padmanabhan pointed out the “value in these non-traditional courses” and how India, with its very conventional universities, is trying to change the tide and become “unconventional”, starting with the delivery of courses more in tune with the digital generation.
“Limkokwing is unique and all your courses have innovation and entrepreneurship embedded in them,” added Padmanabhan.
Industry-driven programmes for high-income careers
This partnership will see MARG Group offer Limkokwing University’s programmes in games, animation, creative multimedia, advertising, fashion design, hair design, interior design, product design and tourism management in MARG Swarnobhoomi.
These courses are designed specifically to boost the students’ chances of securing high income careers when they graduate as digital professionals equipped with the skills and knowledge required in the 21st century.
Founder President of Limkokwing University, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Lim Kok Wing said the university wants to focus more on film production, music design and performing arts courses because of the huge potential and influence of the film industry in India.
CEO, MARG Swarnabhoomi & Education Services, AP Ganesh Ram also plans to explore business opportunities available for both parties in India.
